Over two hundred particpants from the educational institutions, government and non-governement organisations and industries participated in the workshops at each venue.

Background
The importance of promotion of renewable energy for sustainable development, diversification of energy supply and preservation of the environment is recognised by the governments of EU countries and India. RENET is a project co-funded by the EU-India having partnership of five leading Higher Education Institutions, for enhancing the renewable energy research and technology transfer between EU and India (website: http://www.renet-eu-india.com/). Early commercial development of renewable energy technologies need to be reinforced by increased commitment from the national and international business and finance communities.

The European Union has been working with the Indian Government, to promote the use of renewable energy. Under the RENET Project sponsored by the EU, two workshops are being organised to promote increased co-operation between European and Indian research institutes and companies to their mutual benefit and profit.
